Tending the space between what was, what is, and what could be —
for people standing in the in-between, ready to honor what’s gone and build what’s next.

This is a space for people in transition — for remembering what was, noticing what is, and imagining what might be. My writing lives in these thresholds: grief, community, and belonging. I write about Hudson — the city where I grew up and live now — as a way of tending memory, tracing loss, and feeling for the futures we could build together.

I’m Caitie Hilverman — writer, coach, and memory-keeper. Grief has shaped how I see the world. It’s made me fierce about remembering, tender about legacy, and convinced that even our half-told stories deserve a place to land.

Alongside my writing, I offer coaching and gravestone tending. These practices are another way of carrying the same work: helping people slow down, listen closely, and honor what still matters — even when it’s messy, uncertain, or half-formed.

All My Dead & Living Things is about story, change, and care. It’s about living more honestly and fully in our own lives, while staying rooted in the memory of those who came before us — and open to the worlds we’re co-creating now.

My Offerings

Coaching

Support for people in transition — letting go, starting over, or standing in the unknown. I bring a PhD in psychology, Martha Beck coach training, and deep experience walking with people through grief, identity shifts, creative blocks, and clarity-seeking. Coaching with me is slow, real, and rooted in presence.

Gravestone Tending

Gentle gravestone cleaning and remembrance visits — mostly in Hudson’s Cedar Park Cemetery. I use safe, respectful methods and take my time. For when you want to mark a day, remember a name, or show care from afar. Every stone is tended like it matters — because it does.

Writing

I write weekly essays on grief, motherhood, memory, and place — shared on Substack as a practice of staying close to what still matters. I also offer obituary and legacy writing as a form of love and remembrance, helping people honor their people in words that feel real, specific, and wholly human.

“Caitie has an easy-going and genuine demeanor that creates the safest environment for self-exploration. The space she holds feels comfortable and nourishing, like having coffee with a kind and supportive friend. When working with Caitie, I felt so seen and understood. In the absence of judgement, I was surprised at how many possibilities unfurled. Confounding questions seemed to answer themselves in her presence, like magic.” —Mandy VanLaningham
